AT THE DOCTOR’S SURGERY
The doctor taking the biopsy after a thorough oral examination will the decide to either perform punch biopsy or the brush biopsy or both. The choice will totally be the doctor’s and will depend on the clinical condition of the lesion.
Below are the steps to perform the biopsy:
- The plastic protective cover(s) are carefully removed.
- The test is performed as instructed (brush, punch or both)
- Once the biopsy is taken, the doctor carefully takes the slides.
- The doctor then couriers the whole biopsy to the central pathology.
AT THE LABORATORY
- The pathologist prepares the brush biopsy for microscopic examination.
- For the swivel biopsy, the plastic vial can eb unscrewed and the tissue sample is treated as any other biopsy specimen.
- Digitalised testing and reporting. Reports will be aided by coloured microscopic picture only for positive cases.
- Test reports emailed to the reporting doctor.
C TEST® SWIVEL BIOPSY COMPARED TO TRADITIONAL PUNCH BIOPSY
- Specifically designed for oral cancer detection
- Performs a modified punch biopsy to specific depth so no invasion of sub-epithelial tissue
- No need for local anaesthesia as the depth penetrated is only upto 0.5mm. (only spray may be used.)
- No need for scissors to separate pedical.
- Slight bleeding can be easily controlled with pressure guaze.
- No need for sutures. It’s a very tiny swivel(0.5-1mm) as compared to punch(3-8mm)
