C Test® is a simple, painless, bloodless, sterile test which will detect oral cancer years in advance, that means at a pre-cancerous stage.
C Test® Medicals has developed an easy to use to use kit which will detect oral cancer as much as 5 years in advance. Early detection and prevention through this kit will help to save millions of lives.
Most of the lesions we find will not be cancer, however when it comes to a disease as deadly as cancer, early detection makes a big difference. Prevention is indeed better than cure.
Oral cancer appears as a growth or sore in the mouth that does not go away. Oral cancer, which includes cancers of the lips, tongue, cheeks, floor of the mouth, hard and soft palate, sinuses, and pharynx (throat), can be life threatening if not diagnosed and treated early.
Front of the mouth oral cancers, usually related to tobacco use, heavy alcohol consumption or a genetic predisposition in a small number of cases, often produce visible pre-cancerous tissue changes that can be seen with the naked eye. In the very rear of the mouth known as the oropharynx, cancer can occur related to tobacco use.
The most common symptoms of oral cancer include:
In 2013 oral cancer resulted in 135,000 deaths, up from 84,000 deaths in 1990 The numbers of diagnosed cases grow to approximately 50,000 individuals, and 13,500 deaths per year in the U.S.
Worldwide, the problem is much greater, with over 640,000 new cases being found each year
In India:
Oral cancer is the most common form of cancer in India. 130,000 people succumb to oral cancer in India annually. The reason for this high prevalence of oral cancer in India is primarily tobacco consumed in the form of gutka, quid, snuff or misri. In North East India, the use of areca nut is also a risk factor for oral cancer.
According to the American Cancer Society, men face twice the risk of developing oral cancer as women, and men who are over age 50 face the greatest risk. It’s estimated that over 40,000 people in the U.S. received a diagnosis of oral cancer in 2014.
Risk factors for the development of oral cancer include:
• Smoking Cigarette, cigar, or pipe smokers are six times more likely than nonsmokers to develop oral cancers.
• Smokeless tobacco users. Users of dip, snuff, or chewing tobacco products are 50 times more likely to develop cancers of the cheek, gums, and lining of the lips.
• Excessive consumption of alcohol. Oral cancers are about six times more common in drinkers than in nondrinkers.
• Family history of cancer.
• Excessive sun exposure, especially at a young age.
• Human papillomavirus (HPV). Certain HPV strains are etiologic risk factors for Oropharyngeal Squamous Cell Carcinoma (OSCC)
Smoking, tobacco products like paan masala & gutka, hookah, alcohol put you at a very high risk of getting oral cancer.
It is important to note that over 25% of all oral cancers occur in people who do not smoke and who only drink alcohol occasionally.
Do not think that because you are a non-smoker that you should skip these important screenings. Oropharyngeal cancers occur frequently in the tonsils and at the base of the tongue where it begins to curve down into the throat.
Oral cancer is treated the same way many other cancers are treated — with surgery to remove the cancerous growth, followed by radiation therapy and/or chemotherapy (drug treatments) to destroy any remaining cancer cells.
